Cultural Event

concert headerDear Colleagues,

IEEE ISBI 2019 will make its debut in only three weeks in Venice, Italy. We hope that you will enjoy the diversity and quality of the scientific and clinical presentations, as well as the opportunity to learn about the unique culture and legacy of Venice. We have prepared a series of social and cultural events to stimulate networking within our community and offer you opportunities to relax, explore and enjoy Venice after the scientific sessions.

Please be our guest on Wednesday, 10th April for a visit to the historic church of Santi Giovanni e Paolo followed by a concert of Venetian Baroque Music. The Basilica, one of the most stunning churches on the island, has served for centuries as the burial place of the doges (the rulers of the Republic of Venice), and is decorated with masterpieces by renowned artists Bellini, Titian, Tiepolo and Veronese.

Join us at the Basilica from 7.30 pm to stroll through the church and admire its magnificent architecture and art. The seated concert, which begins at 8.00 p.m., features a vocal-instrumental ensemble with chamber orchestra, mixed choir, and soloists (soprano and violin) performing masterworks by Venice’s most famous composer, Antonio Vivaldi. The concert will last approximately one hour and include excerpts from the Magnificat for soprano, choir and orchestra, the Concerto “per Sant’ Antonio da Padova” for violin and orchestra, the Cantata in C minor for soprano, choir and orchestra Sinfonia in B minor for orchestra. The concert is included in the conference registration. A limited number of extra tickets are available before 1st April for 35 USD each. Purchase your ticket

The Basilica is about 30 minutes away from the conference venue at Hilton Molino Stucky. Take the waterbus number 2 or 4.1 from Giudecca-Palanca to San Zaccaria, then a 12-minute walk will bring you to the Campo San Giovanni e Paolo, where the façade of the Basilica rises next to the Hospital.

We look forward to seeing you in Venice,

Marius and Enrico
